La Crosse and UWW set for first pitch at the Mills

The UW-La Crosse baseball team enters this weekend’s four-game series at Whitewater tied with UW-Oshkosh for 3rd place in the WIAC standings entering the final weekend of the conference season.

The Eagles are coming off a non-conference sweep of St. Olaf (Minn). UWL brings a 23 & 12 (overall) and 11 & 9 (WIAC) marks into the weekend.

The 23 wins for UW-L are the most-ever under seventh-year head coach Chris Schwarz. It is also the most victories for the Eagles since 2002 when they finished 26-18.

Only the top-three teams will advance to next weekend’s WIAC postseason tournament that will hosted by the No. 1 seed. UW-Stevens Point enters the weekend in 1st place in the conference with the Warhawks a game back.

Partly cloudy skies, 64 degrees and winds will be blowing from left field corner to right field corner at 11 mph gusting to 24 mph.

UWL: Mitch Running (5 wins, 1 loss – 3.51 era)
UWW: Riley Tincher (7 wins, 2 losses – 2.95 era)
