Hawks roll 19-4 in game-one vs. Ripon at the Mills
The UW-Whitewater baseball team proved to be an equal opportunity hitting squad in it’s 19-4 win over Ripon College in game-one of the Warhawks home opening doubleheader on Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium.
All eight batters in Whitewater starting lineup had at least one hit by the end of the fourth inning.
UWW leadoff batter Danny Putnam continues to torch opposing pitching this season. The Hawks righfielder entered the doubleheader hitting a team high .533. The Ashland native picked up where he left off in Florida by going 3 for 4 at the plate plus a walk and 3 RBI.
UWW designated hitter Sam Keller had his best day as a Warhawks going 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and scoring 2 runs. Jeff Donovan was 3 for 5 with an RBI, Rob Coe had a 3 for 6 day in game one. Dylan Friend added a 2-run homer in the 3rd inning for the Warhawks.
Riley Tincher picks up the win going the first five innings giving up two runs (both earned), striking out 3 and walking 3 Ripon batters.
