Computer techs and garbage bags can't get Voice to get his blog online on Saturday

Vbice here -

Saturday was great for the UW-Whitewater baseball team with its doubleheader sweep of Ripon College. Saturday was "hell on earth" for the Voices Eye on UWW Baseball Blog.

After blogging late Friday night I went to bed excited about debuting "gameday" blogging of the Ripon-UWW doubleheader Saturday morning.

Saturday morning shortly after 10 a.m. I attempted to log-on to my computer via my Sprint Broadband Card. No success.

My computer spent the next two-and-a-half with my good freinds at KC Computer Sales here in Whitewater. Despite jumping through the hoops that computer technitions must do - Ryan and the gang at KC Computer resolved the problem and had me on the way to James B. Miller Stadium by 12:30 p.m. - a half hour after normal Saturday morning business hours.

Got to the ballpark while the dulcit tones of PA announcer Tom Lange was giving the large home opening crowd the starting lineups. It took me an inning to set up my blogging location just behind the backstop just steps away from Mills barbecuing hamburgers and hot dogs.

Oops - evening with mostly cloudy skies - the outdoor light was too much for me to be able view my computer screen. What to do??? Hurried home (2 minute drive) to get a couple extra large trash bags. Scurried back to the stadium and tried that out in an effort to be able to view my computer screen. There I was with a trash bag over my head. Lee Munger, UWW's strength and conditioning coordinator, said I looked like an NFL instant replay offical. Head groundskeeper, John Betz, said I defintely looked better with a bag over my head!

To cut to the chase - the bag over the head method of blogging just didn't work.

In an emergency effort - I tried going up to the media level with Mr. Lange along with the sports information crew - there just wasn't enough room. I felt bad about the situation on media row and went back downstairs left late in game one. Sorry for the inconvenience guys!!!

I spent game-two sitting in my portable lawn chair enjoying the game.

I'll work on a better situation and I promise I'll be blogging LIVE at next Saturday's nonconfereance doubleheader vs. Marian College at "the Mills."

Again, a big thanks to KC Computers for getting my computer off the "injured reserve list" in time for yesterday's Warhawk baseball home opener.

I'll have a full blog session of how I viewed the Warhawks doubleheader sweep of Ripon College on Sunday.
