Warhawks power past Salem State 17-9

My computer is just back from getting a new hard drive following its crash 10 days ago. I’ll attempt to get everybody updated on the Warhawks’ 5 & 1 start to the season.

UW-W rebounded from Saturday’s 17-9 loss to SUNY-Cortland (NY) by routing Salem State (Maine) 27-12 Sunday in Clermont, Florida. It was game-three of the Warhawks 2010 spring trip to Florida.

John Vodenlich’s squad brought out the “heavy lumber - or in this case aluminum," by blasting seven home runs in the game. Jeff Donovan, Fred Gromalak (Pictured), and Ben Kuhlmann each belted two home runs while Jordan Stine added one in a early season rout of Salem State.

Gromalak (Freshman - Kettle Moraine), making his first collegiate start at catcher, finished 5 of 6 at the plate with the two home runs, 5 RBIs, 3 runs scored ad 2 stolen bases.

Kris Lee, one of several Hawk pitchers, picked up his second win of the season.

The Warhawks will remain in Clermont until March 26 and are off on Monday and Tuesday but return to action on Wednesday for a game against Bowdoin College.

Coming up Monday here on Voice's Sye on Warhawk Baseball Blog I'll take a look at the Warhawks' solid start to the season and some of the reasons why.
