Final nonconference tune-up for Warhawks Thursday afternoon vs Marian
The UW-Whitewater baseball team will host Marian University (Fond du Lac) in doubleheader action Thursday afternoon at the newly renovated Purcha Field at James B. Miller Stadium. It will be the Warhawks' final tune-up prior to the WIAC opener April 7th at UW-Platteville.
Game one of the doubleheader will get underway at 1 p.m.
The Warhawks (10-1) opened the home season last Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Ripon Coollege. The Hawks won the opener 11-1 with Riley Tincher (4-0) going the distance in the run-rule shortened game. Ryan Leavitt and Jeff Donovan paced the offense. Leavitt went 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBI. Donovan ended the game going 4 for 4 and 3 RBI.
In the nightcap. Jason Hooper, Kyle Lee and Ben Versnik combined to scatter five hits in the Hawks 3-1 win. Rob Coe led the Hawks' offense going 2 for 4 with 4 RBI.
The Sabres (2-8) also enter the game off a Tuesday (3/30) doubleheader vs. Ripon College. Marian won the opener 7-5 before losing the nightcap 14-4 (7 innings.
