Tincher too much for Ripon in Saturday's home opener

The following is an excerpt from Voice Pattison postgame interview with Saturday’s game-one starting pitcher Riley Tincher. The senior right-handed pitcher from Oregon, Wisconsin is cut in the mold of Aaron Dott). Dott, the Warhawks top pitcher in 2009 is currently in the Tampa Bay Rays’ organization. Dott signed with Tampa Bay after being drafted in the 31 round of MLB’s 2010 draft. The big left-hande pitcher for Class A (Short Season) Hudson Valley (NY).)

Tincher opened the home portion of the 2010 season by going the distance in the Warhawks’ 11-1 (seven inning run rule) victory. The Senior lefthander stymied Ripon, giving up five hits, walking one and striking out. The victory raises Tincher’s season record to 3-0.)

Voice: Congratulations on the win in the home opener.

RT: Thank you – thank you very much.

Voice: You are now 3 & 0 on the season. Talk about your solid start on the mound…

RT: Being a senior Coach Vodenlich really wanted me to be a leader on the staff. He wanted me to throw as many innings as possible. My main goal is to give my team a chance to win each time I go to the mound.

Voice: Were you surprised that you were able to get the complete game (seven inning run rule win) being your first game pitching in cold weather (53 degrees at game time)?

RT: Not really, I was working off four days rest and I felt pretty fresh. I really felt good going into the 6th and 7 innings.

Voice With the win today you are off to a 3 & 0 start and leading the team with 23 innings pitched in five appearances. Your 17 strikeouts, and 2.35 ERA leads the team. You remind me of your former teammate, Aaron Dott. (Dott pitched a team-high 99 2/3 inning last year with a team-high 119 strike outs, posting a 7-5 record).

RT: Thanks, Aaron showed the importance of being a workhorse on the mound. He showed the importance of being able to go to the mound and go deep in a ballgame each start for us.

Voice: You guys are off to an outstanding 8 & 0 start to the season. Do you think you guys are where you want to be with the WIAC season less than two weeks away?

RT: Absolutely – We still have a number of things to work on but now that we are in the season we are pretty much where we want to be.
