D III World Series teams arrive in Appleton Wednesday


UW-Whitewater will take a 36 & 11 record into its first round game against Buena Vista University (Iowa) 31-16 Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the 2011 NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton.

In the other game in the tournament’s lower bracket, Western New England (Mass) 41-9 will play Keystone College (Penn) 35-10 at 7:45 p.m. Friday evening

The winners of the two games will play Saturday evening at 7:45. The losers will play in an elimination bracket game at 4:30 p.m.

The World Series opens Friday morning with two outstanding “upper bracket” games.

Chapman 33-11 and Kean 42-9 will open play Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. followed by Marietta 42-3 vs. Salisbury 33-12 at 1:45 p.m.

In a D3baseball.com reader’s poll conducted this week on the popular Division III Website, Whitewater trails only No. 1 ranked Marietta, Ohio as the fan favorite to capture this season’s World Series.

The UW-Whitewater Alumni Association and the athletic department invite you to join them for a World Series tailgate party on Friday, May 27 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin. The tailgate will begin at 2:30 and end at 4:30. Food and beverage will be provided and all alumni, family, friends and supporters of Warhawk baseball are welcome. The tailgate will take place in the parking lot on the first base side of the stadium.
