St. Thmas wins, Stevens Point down 3-1 in the 9th inning

One game has been complete and game two is nearing an end in Day 2 of the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional baseball tournament being played on Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium on the campus of UW-Whitewater.

St. Thomas scored early in today’s first game and cruised to an 8-3 win over Aurora University (Ill).

The loss eliminates the Spartans from regional competition. St. Thomas advances to day-three action on Friday.

Meanwhile, St. Scholastica is just three outs from knocking off No. 1 seed UW-Stevens Point. The Saints lead the Pointers 3-1 with UWSP coming to bat in the top of the ninth inning.
