NCAA Division III Midwest Region action opens Wednesday morning


The UW-Whitewater Warhawks will take on the St. Thomas (Minn) Tommies in NCAA Division III Midwest Regional first round action on Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium on the campus of UW-Whitewater.

The Hawks and Tommies will play game two of the six-team regional's first day of action. Gametime is scheduled for 1 p.m.

UWW (no. 2 sees) brings a 32-11 mark into regional play. St. Thomas (No. 5 sed) is 27-16.

Game 1 on Wednesday will start at 10 a.m. and feature No. 1 seed UW-Stevens Point (32-8) vs. No. 6 seed Aurora University (Ill) (30-12).

The final game of day one is set for 4 p.m. as St. Scholastica (Minn) (No. 3 seed) plays Hamline University (Minn) (No. 4 seed).

CSS brings a 35 & 5 record into the NCAA Division III playoffs. Hamline making the school's first trip ever into the postseason captured the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conferences automatic bid last Sunday with a 7-5 win over St. Thomas in the MIAC championship game.
