Hawks bomb Edgewood 12-2 in game-one today at the Mills

The UW-Whitewater baseball team rolled over Edgewood College 12-2 in a seven inning run rule victory] game-one victory in 28 degree windchill temperatures on Prucha Field at Jim B. Miller Stadium.

Jeff Donovan paced the Hawks 14 hit attack with three doubles snd four runs batted in. The three doubles ties the school's single game double's record held by six other Warhawks including Donovan back in 2008.

Matt Roberts got the start on the for veteran coach John Vodenlich. The freshman right-hander from Manitowoc Roncalli High School went the distance giving up just 2 runs while scattering 7 hits. Roberts struck out 6 while walking 1.

Roberts record is now 1 and 1 on the season.

Game 2 will start at 4:15.

Cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 36 degrees with a wind chill temperature of 28.

Hawks lead 7-1 after 5 innings. Jeff Donovan ripped a two, 2-RBI doubles knocking in four of the Hawks so far in the game. Dkonovan is 3 for 3 -all doubles.

Matt Roberts is on the mound for the Warhawks. Entering the 6th inning Roberts has given up just one run, scattering four hits and has struck out four Eagle batters.
