Hawks step out of conference for three home games this week

The UW-Whitewater baseball team will have the WIAC bye this week but will step out of the conference for three key non-conference games.

Weather permitting; the Warhawks will host Edgewood College Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. on Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium.

Then on Thursday UWW will welcome Concordia (Chicago) to town for a single game beginning at 1 p.m. at the Mills.

The Hawks are currently in first place in the WIAC standings at 11 & 3 (18 & 5 overall). UW-Stevens Point sits in second place with a 7 & 3 conference record (16 & 7 overall). UW-Oshkosh holds down third place in the conference with a 6 & 4 record (17 & 5 overall).

Only the WIAC postseason tournament champion gets an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III playoffs so winning the non-conference games are critical to potently earning an at-large berth in the Division III postseason tournament.
