Hawks roll in game-two Sunday, complete four game sweep of UW-Superior

The UW-Whitewater baseball team finds itself all alone on top of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings as the result of its four-game sweep of UW-Superior over the weekend on Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium.

In game-two on a raw, windy day at the Mills, the Warhawks rolled to a 15-2 win to win both games of Sunday's twin bill.

Jeff Donovan put together another quality start for the Warhawk piching staff. Donovan pitched seven innings, gave up five hits, two runs, zero earned, walked one, and struck out nine to earn his fourth victory of the season. Tom Kerndt pitched an inning and two-thirds giving up one hit and Rob Coe pitched the last out of the game.

UWW's top of the batting order had a big day. Danny Putnam extended his team leading hitting streak to thirteen games and drove in three runs on the day. Andrew Eichstaedt went 3-for-7 and has now hit safely in nine straight games. Donovan had the best statistical day at the plate, by going 4-for-9 with two RBIs and three runs and also boasts an eight game hitting streak.

Next up for the Warhawks will be four games next weekend at archrival UW-Stevens Point.
