Putnam continues to live above the .500 mark at the plate

Despite having his 14-game hitting streak snapped over the weekend, Danny Putnam continues to sizzle at the plate. The Warhawks lead-off hitter enters the week with a .520 batting average. Through the first 17 games of the season the senior out of Ashland High School is 35 of 79 at the plate including 3 triples and four doubles.

Putnam had hit in each of the first 14 games of the season until going 0 for 4 in the Hawks’ 6-2 game-two win on Sunday.

Putnam leads the WIAC with his 35 hits and is tied with Stout’s Matt Guida with the aforementioned .520 average at the plate. He leads the team with 10 multiple hit games including five 3-hit and three 4-hit games.

In UW-Whitewater’s four-game split of its four-game series over the weekend at UW-Stevens Point, Putnam was 8 for 17.

His season-opening 14 game hitting streak came to an end in the Hawks’ 6-2 victory over the Pointers in game-two on Saturday.

Jeff Donovan knocked in 6 runs over the weekend including a 3-run home run in the Hawks 6-2 win. Donovan also pitched 8 solid innings to earn his fifth win of the year without a loss.

Rob Coe finished the weekend with 4 RBI while going 4 for 13 along with 2 walks and sacrifice fly RBI.
