The Warhawks trailed 2-0 early, .but came roaring back for a 12 - 2 win in game-one of a twin-bill this afternoon in Platteville.
Ben Kuhlman’s leadoff solo home run in the fourth inning cut the Pioneer lead to 2-1. Jeff Donovan slammed a three run shot in the fifth to give the Warhawks a 4-2 lead.
The Hawks broke the game open by sending 13 batters to the plate. Whitewater scored eight in the inning led by Danny Putnam’s 2-run double and Tim Conroy’s bases loaded triple to score three.
The final line score in the game:
Whitewater: 12 runs, 10 hits, 1 error
Platteville: 2 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors
UW-Whitewater starting pitcher Riley Tincher goes the distance scattering 4 hits to run his record 7 & 0 on the season.
Whitewater is now 19-1 on the season and 7-0 in the WIAC. Game-two of today’s doubleheader will start 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.
