Offense/Rain take center stage in WIAC opening day action

(Game One) UW-Stout 13, UW-La Crosse

• In the opener, Stout pounded out 16 hits and ran up a 12-4 lead only to see La Crosse pound their way back into the game with four runs in the seventh inning and four in the ninth.

(Game Two) UW-La Crosse 20, UW-Stout 9 (8 innings/10-run rule)

• The second game featured nine home runs between the two teams, with La Crosse hitting five and Stout four. La Crosse took over late in the nightcap, scoring 11 runs over the last three innings of the shortened contest, getting one in the sixth, four in the seventh and six in the eighth.

(Game One) UW-Oshkosh 13, UW-Stevens Point 10

• The second game was suspended at the end of the fourth inning due to inclement weather. UW-Stevens Point was leading 11-1. The contest will resume at 11 a.m. on April 14 at Tiedemann Field.

UW-Whitewater @ UW-Platteville (DH)

• Wednesday’s doubleheader was postponed because of rain. The teams will now play two games Thursday, starting at 1 p.m. at UWP's Kendall Murray Field.
