If winning in the WIAC was easy everybody would do it

There is an old saying, if it was easy everybody would do it. If you watched Saturday’s doubleheader at La Crosse you soon realize that it was anything but easy for the UW-Whitewater baseball team to put together 13-10 and 5-4 victories to stay on top of the WIAC by a game over UW-Stevens Point.

“Nothing in our league is easy,” Hawks’ head coach John Vodenlich indicated following Saturday’s action. “You look at La Crosses’ record and to think they are not a quality program would be wrong - the same with Stout.

I don’t ever expect anything easy in our league nor will it be the rest of the way.

Following Sunday’s doubleheader at La Crosse it will be back home for a Wednesday twin bill vs. UW-Oshkosh. Next weekend Whitewater will host a pair of doubleheaders against second-place UW-Stevens Point. The following Wednesday Oshkosh returns to James B. Miller Stadium for another pair of games.

KOOL 106.5 will be broadcasting a number of games in the upcoming home-stand. Gary Douglas and Tom Pattison are scheduled to broadcast the first game of Wednesday’s twin bill vs. UW-Oshkosh. The veteran duo will have the call of both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against second place UW-Stevens Point. The Sunday doubleheader against Point WILL NOT be broadcast due to KOOL 106.5’s contractual agreement with NASCAR. The following Wednesday’s first game vs. Oshkosh will also be broadcast live.

A week of reckoning in the race for the 2010 WIAC championship as the Warhawks look for a ninth title in the last 11 years.
