Leitner & Versnik pitch UWW to 8-1 win over UWSP in Monday's game-one
The Warhawk baseball team rode the pitching combo of Aaron Leitner and Ben Versnnik to an 8-1 win over UW-Stevens Point in game one of Monday's doubleheader at James B. Miller Stadium. Leitner pitched 7.1 innings to run his record to 3-1 on the season. Versnik retired all five batters he faced to pick up his seventh save of the season..
The Warhawks finished with 13 hits vs Point's Scott Williams. Jeff Donovan led the way going two for four with three RBI. Dan Putnam, Ben Kuhlman, Rob Kenseth and Mike Kenseth also added two hits for Whitewater.
Eric Fritz, the WIAC's leading hitter wnt two for four and drove in the lone fun for the Pointers.
With the victory the Warhawks are now 15 & 2 in the WIAC and 27 & 3 overall. Stevens Point fall to 10 & 5 in the conference and 21 & 9 overall.
